The Great Chicago Fire- Nov. 24, 2008

The Great Chicago Fire affected many lives in Chicago. For those who don't know what happened, my group and I have posted some quick facts!

The Great Chicago fire occured on October 8, 1871 near what is now Downtown's area. The legend behind this tragedy is a cow owned by Mrs. O'Leary who tipped over a candle. Can you imagine how a cow can set a HUGE fire? Well it did. It burned houses and shops. Also,left 300 people dead and 500,000 people homeless. Fire Fighters were able to put the fire under control the next day. (October 9, 1871)
